o'connell and goldberg public relations named sabre award finalist

O’Connell & Goldberg Public Relations (O&G) was named a finalist in the prestigious SABRE Awards, marking a significant milestone for the agency. The agency was recognized in the Multicultural Marketing category for its work on behalf of the iconic Freedom Tower in Miami as part of the campaign, “More than a Building: How Freedom Tower’s Centennial Reclaimed a Cultural Icon.”

The SABRE Awards, which recognizes superior achievement in branding, reputation and engagement, on national level.

O&G’s work with the Freedom Tower, in partnership with Miami Dade College, supported its grand reopening following a two-year, multi-million-dollar restoration. The reopening also coincided with the landmark’s centennial, creating a unique opportunity to reintroduce the site to the public.

The agency implemented a comprehensive communications strategy that combined media relations, storytelling and community engagement to reintroduce the historic site to the public. By positioning the Freedom Tower as both a cultural landmark and a symbol of resilience, the campaign successfully elevated awareness and reinforced its significance to audiences in South Florida and beyond.

“This one hit close to home for a lot of us,” said Barbara Goldberg, founder and CEO of O’Connell & Goldberg Public Relations. “With strong Miami roots across our team, we understand what The Freedom Tower matters to this community – it meant a lot to help tell that story the right way.”

Finalists for the SABRE Awards are selected from more than 2,000 entries each year, representing the best work from agencies and organizations across North America.

Winners will be announced at the SABRE Awards ceremony on May 5 in New York City.
