Post University has named Jayden Burns its 2021 recipient for its annual Malcolm Baldrige Scholarship. Burns will receive a four-year, full-tuition package to study at the university’s Malcolm Baldrige School of Business. The New London resident was honored at an in-person reception on June 3. The scholarship is valued at $113,000.

A graduate of the Science and Technology Magnet High School of Southeastern Connecticut in New London, CT, Burns excelled academically, earning high honors all four years. She also is an accomplished athlete, earning spots on the cheerleading, and track and field teams and serving as captain of the girls’ volleyball and basketball teams. In her free time, Burns volunteered as a cheerleading assistant coach, basketball clinic instructor, life mentor for high school students and an election poll worker. She plans to major in business administration and will play on the Post University Women’s Basketball Team.

“Each year, we award this scholarship to the student who best exemplifies the qualities that helped Malcolm Baldrige succeed – innovation, excellence, integrity and leadership,” said Post University Provost, Dr. Elizabeth Johnson. “Jayden’s ability to balance her athletic responsibilities and community service commitments without sacrificing her academic success is the reason why we selected her for this prestigious scholarship. We look forward to watching her grow here.”
