Aventura Mall and the Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership Host Annual Book Fair with Special Guest Dave Barry

AVENTURA, Fla. — Aventura Mall and The Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership have teamed up for the second year to host The Book Shop Saturday, August 16, from 10 a.m. — 6 p.m., located in the mall’s Center Court. This exciting book fair event will feature a wide selection of award-winning books for all ages, including New York Times Best-Sellers for adults.

A special appearance and book signing by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and columnist Dave Barry will highlight the day with his humor and power of words.

Barry won the Pulitzer Prize for commentary and has written more than 30 books, including novels “Big Trouble,” “Lunatics,” “Tricky Business” and most recently, “Insane City.” He also has co-authored a best-selling children’s series “Peter and the Starcatchers.” Two of Barry’s books were the basis for the CBS sitcom Dave’s World.
The Book Shop will entertain the whole family with beloved special characters Pete the Cat and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, along with a live performances of Little Red Riding Hood.

All proceeds of The Book Shop will benefit The Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership, a non-profit organization that collaborates with community agencies and institutions to improve child and family well-being and community literacy programs. By making a donation at The Book Shop, you receive tickets to exchange for books. The ticket exchange is as follows: 1 for $1 or 25 for $20. In addition, raffle tickets will be sold (1 for $5 or 5 for $20) and prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

To kick-off The Book Shop, Aventura Mall Kids Club members will have access to an exclusive breakfast event, featuring The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Taking place from 8:30 a.m. — 9:30 a.m. at Color Me Mine on level three, Kids Club members and their guests will enjoy breakfast, a character meet and greet, professional photo opportunity and front row seating at the Little Red Riding Hood performance during The Book Shop event. A $35 donation per child is required. Space is limited to the first 30 children to RSVP.
