TUCKER, Ga. – Medtech Institute in Tucker, Ga., now provides an English as a Second Language (ESL) program as a supplemental offering for its students. The Tucker campus becomes the first of Medtech’s three Atlanta area campuses to offer ESL; the Marietta and Morrow campuses plan to follow in coming months.

Medtech currently is enrolling students for its ESL program at the Tucker campus.

As Atlanta’s population continues to evolve, more and more job applicants are turning to ESL programs to bolster their confidence and career aptitudes. Further, healthcare providers are paying a premium for bilingual healthcare graduates and it dramatically increases their employment opportunities. Medtech includes its ESL program as a beneficial supplemental offering for students who wish to enhance their English language skills.

“Our primary focus is training students for fulfilling careers in the in-demand healthcare industry; however, for students who wish to learn English or enhance their English language proficiency and then go on to train for a career in healthcare or other professions, this program will provide them the support they need,” said Regional Vice President Bob Ernst.

An estimated 20 million-plus people across the United States could benefit from English as a Second Language training and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects there will be a growing need for ESL programs through this decade. In some areas of northern Georgia, demand for ESL programs has tripled in recent years and, in many communities, there are waiting lists just to enroll.

“Being able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues is a prerequisite for in-demand careers and is a very valuable tool in the education process,” Ernst notes. “Medtech is an active contributor to the communities it serves and, after analyzing the Atlanta market, we launched our ESL program to help meet the training needs of this region.”

Medtech students are able to select from enhanced course offerings in healthcare and IT backed by the resources of a 10-school network committed to quality education and dedicated to preparing them for extraordinary new futures. Students are encouraged to search out new opportunities, develop inquisitive minds, and gain the skills and professional confidence that allows them to reach their full potential.

In addition to stimulating classroom instruction, students learn by doing through personalized hands-on training guided by industry experts who provide the practical experience graduates need to excel in their chosen field of study. The Medtech experience provides graduates with the tools for establishing professional goals and achieving success in existing and emerging healthcare professions.

Now, they also can improve their English language skills in order to help them secure a more extraordinary new future.
