Fortis College, Centerville Becomes First in Fortis Network to Launch Microsoft Network Technology Program

CENTERVILLE, Ohio – Fortis College, Centerville will become the first campus in the Fortis network of colleges and institutes to offer the Microsoft Network Technology (MNT) program. The campus is enrolling students now for courses that begin Jan. 10, 2011.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition, overall employment of computer network, systems, and database administrators is projected to increase by 30 percent through 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. BLS further states excellent job prospects are expected and workers can enter this field with many different levels of formal education, but relevant computer skills are always needed.

The Microsoft Network Technology Program at Fortis College, Centerville is designed to provide real world job skills, including both Windows 7 client and Windows 2008 Server environments. Students learn to trouble shoot physical and logical problems, research solutions to technical issues, and install, upgrade and configure both hardware and software.

Program graduates are prepared to earn an industry-recognized Microsoft Certification and ready to assume entry-level positions as a local area network (LAN) administrator for an IT department in any industry worldwide.

“Growth in computer network, systems and database administrators continues to be rapid in a variety of technical consulting industries that provide an increasing array of IT services, as well as in healthcare through the growth of electronic records,” said Fortis College, Centerville President Dr. Richard Rucker. “We expect this new MNT program will open the doors to exciting and challenging career opportunities for our students.”

As part of the collaborative Fortis network of 29 colleges and institutes in 11 states, the Centerville campus offers all the resources, technology and access to higher level educational program offerings that network affiliation provides. As a leading post-secondary network of colleges and institutes that engages students in a powerful learning and training experience for lifelong growth, Fortis offers degree, diploma and certificate-granting programs that produce “job ready” employees prepared for a wide variety of entry-level positions. Fortis is affiliated with the Denver School of Nursing, St. Paul’s School of Nursing, MedVance Institute, All State Career School, Medix School and Tri-State Business Institute.
