ERIE, Penn. – John Zaczyk has been named Director of Career Services at Fortis Institute in Erie. A dynamic leader with more than a dozen years of experience in the career services sector, Zaczyk’s primary duties will include staying abreast of workplace employment trends; establishing and maintaining essential business relationships to benefit students and graduates; preparing students to transition into career fields through externships, counselling and employment workshops; and maintaining an active jobs lead generation system.

“We were excited to learn John was interested in the Director of Career Services position and are very pleased he accepted this opportunity to lead our Career Services team,” said Campus President Peter C. Correa. “John has great ideas, is a true leader of character, and his personal philosophy of finding solutions that benefit both the student or graduate and the employer reflects that of our campus. He’s a great fit.”

For the past year-and-a-half, Zaczyk served as Lead Recruitment Coordinator at the national headquarters of the Barber National Institute in Erie – a not-for-profit organization that provides learning and additional services to children, adults and families faced with developmental disabilities. He previously served as a Career Services Advisor and Senior Admissions Representative at Fortis Institute for four years.

While serving at Fortis, Zaczyk contributed to the school’s graduate employment success by motivating students to explore multiple job opportunities prior to graduation, hosting career fairs, and by tirelessly assessing the needs of area businesses in order to prepare his students to address workplace demand.

“Drawing upon previous experience, I expect to bring a new perspective and innovation to the campus career services team, with an eye toward helping graduates launch successful professional careers,” Zaczyk said. “And I want every graduate of the Erie campus to know that my team is here to help them along their career paths – whether they graduated two years ago…or 30 years ago. They’re always part of our Fortis Family!”

A lifelong resident of Erie, Zaczyk loves the community and the diversity of products and services it generates. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
