Fortis College-Orange Park Receives Special Recognition from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Being recognized as one of the “Best” is high praise. That honor was bestowed on Fortis College in Orange Park by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) following renewal of the campus’ accreditation through Dec. 31, 2020.
During the 2015 ACICS Annual Conference in Las Vegas (May 27-29), Fortis College-Orange Park was awarded special recognition as an ACICS Honor Roll Institution for exhibiting a thorough understanding of accreditation criteria and effectively implementing the standards in its daily operations.
Inclusion as an ACICS Honor Roll Institution is quite rare – Fortis College-Orange Park was one of only nine postsecondary education institutions in the United States to receive the recognition during the 2015 ACICS Conference. In its Honor Roll certificate, ACICS President and CEO Albert C. Gray, Ph.D., offered Fortis College special recognition “with distinction” in its accreditation extension.
“This honor is high praise and reinforces our campus’ commitment to meet or exceed all standards of accreditation day-in and day-out,” said Campus President Wyman Dickey. “We are both pleased with and proud of the instructors, staff and students at the Orange Park campus for the commitment to excellence they jointly embrace. This was definitely a team effort.”
Founded in 1912, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) is one of the most respected and longest established national accreditors of academic institutions in the United States. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The organization’s mission is to advance educational excellence at independent, nonpublic career schools, colleges, and organizations in the United States and abroad. ACICS currently accredits more than 900 institutions throughout the United States and more than a dozen foreign countries enrolling over 800,000 students.
